Adopt-A-Highway Trash Pickup Event

The Juneau Reentry Coalition is holding an Adopt-A-Highway pickup event on Saturday, October 7, 2023, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Light refreshments are available.
The pickup event occurs at JREC’s adopted 4 to 5-mile North Douglas Highway.
JREC meets at the 4-mile marker. After instructions and the handing out of trash bags and nitrile gloves, we walk both sides of the highway, picking up trash in ditches.
It takes about one hour to pick up both sides of the highway.
The event is open to all. However, parents of young children are forewarned being alongside a highway is dangerous, and they are responsible for their child’s safety.
