Recovery Art Show – Location: Juneau Robotics (downtown Juneau)

Friday, 9/5 (4:30-8pm). This First Friday event, in collaboration with the JAMHI Lookback Project, will feature art inspired by recovery from alcoholism, addiction, and mental illness. Artists will include residents at Gastineau Human Services, members of Polaris House Clubhouse, inmates at Lemon Creek Correctional Center, and others.  The show hangs at Juneau Robotics all month in September. Recovery Film Fest – Location: Gold Town Theater (downtown Juneau)

Monday, 9/8 (5:30-7:30pm). “The Redemption Project: A Mother’s Justice” This film follows Terria Walters, an Alaskan mother whose son, Christopher, was killed in a drug deal gone bad. Terria seeks to meet with the convicted killer, Joshua Beebe, in a restorative justice dialogue, hoping to find understanding and closure. It explores Terria’s journey of healing and the challenges of confronting the man responsible for her son’s death. For information, call 907-957-9571 or email at info@juneaureentry.org.

Monday, 9/15 (5:30-7:30pm). “Generation Found” This documentary film is about a Texas community coming together to address youth addiction. Families, counselors, musicians, sports people, oil industry executives, church leaders, and others came together to build a peer-driven youth and family recovery community. The film looks at how a system of treatment centers, sober high schools, alternative peer groups, and collegiate recovery programs can be successful an alternative to the “War on Drugs.” For information, call 907-957-9571 or email at info@juneaureentry.org.

Monday, 9/22 (5:30-7:30pm). “The Anonymous People” This documentary film explores the lives of Americans living in long-term recovery from alcohol and/or drug addiction. The film highlights the stigma surrounding addiction, the power of recovery stories, and the need for open dialogue to reduce shame and isolation. Ultimately, the documentary aims to expand public perceptions and encourage those in recovery to step forward and be counted. For information, call 907-957-9571 or email at info@juneaureentry.org.

Adopt-a-Highway Community Trash Pickup – Location: 4 mile North Douglas

Recovery Picnic at Twin Lakes – Location: Twin Lakes Park

Saturday, 9/20 (11am-2pm) “Recovery Picnic” This community event invites individuals and families to come together to celebrate recovery from alcoholism and/or addiction. There will be horseshoes, croquet, live music, and lunch provided!
